Agile's unit rate changes every half hour; Octopus publishes each day's 48 prices the afternoon before. The Ofgem line is the capped single-rate unit price for this region (current cap, 26.35p). Over the last 31 days Agile has averaged 25.93p here; a typical home using 2,500 kWh spread evenly through the day would pay about £793 a year for electricity against £822 at the cap - real Agile bills depend on when you use power.

How to read the prices
- Agile has 48 prices a day, one per half hour, published the afternoon before. The bars and the grid show each half-hour; the darker the red, the dearer the slot. The boxed slot is the one you are in now. Prices can fall below zero when the grid has more wind than demand.
- Cheapest three hours is the lowest-priced run of six consecutive half-hours today: the window to run the dishwasher, charge the car or heat water.
- Tracker has one electricity and one gas price per day, published a day ahead. The chart shows the last thirty days of both tariffs against the capped unit rate for your region, so you can see whether either has been beating the cap.
- The cap line is Ofgem’s capped single-rate unit price for your region on Direct Debit: what a standard variable tariff charges per kWh. Standing charges are compared separately because Agile’s and Tracker’s differ from the cap’s.
- Typical home, a year prices Ofgem’s typical usage at today’s rates. For Agile it assumes usage spread evenly across the day, which real households never manage, so treat it as a benchmark rather than a quote.

When are tomorrow’s Agile prices published?
Octopus publishes the next day’s 48 half-hourly Agile prices in the late afternoon, typically around 4pm, once the day-ahead wholesale auction has settled. We read Octopus’s tariff API every hour, so tomorrow’s prices appear here within the hour and the Tomorrow button switches the grid to them.
Is Agile cheaper than the price cap?
It depends on when you use electricity. The tracker shows today’s average Agile price next to the capped unit rate for your region, and the 30-day chart shows how the daily average has compared. Agile is usually cheapest overnight and dearest between 4pm and 7pm, so a household that can shift washing, dishwashing, charging and heating away from the evening peak tends to beat the cap; one that cannot may not. The estimate on the page assumes usage spread evenly through the day, which flatters nobody.
How does Octopus Tracker work?
Tracker sets one electricity price and one gas price for each day, published a day ahead, following the wholesale market on a fixed formula. The unit rates move every day; the standing charges stay put. Because it is not a standard variable tariff the price cap does not limit its daily rate, which can sit above or below the capped unit rate on any given day. The page shows today’s and tomorrow’s rate and the last 30 days.
